Is Red Thread an issue in your lawn?

Is Red Thread an issue in your lawn?

If you’re experiencing fungus-like turf issues, you’re not alone. Our technicians say lawn fungus, primarily Red Thread, seems to be prevalent this year.

What is Red Thread? It’s a type of fungus that causes brown spots, sometimes even a pink tint, to your lawn.  Abundant rainfall and lack of nitrogen in the soil are the main culprits. As unsightly as it may be, it can grow itself out with the proper care.

We recommend mowing at the highest height on your mower, catching the clippings if possible. Regular fertilizer treatments will help replenish the nitrogen deficiency in the soil. Eventually, as the weather improves, the fungus will grow itself out.
