Ornamental grasses add structure and texture to a landscape without feeling heavy. Northwind Switchgrass is a choice variety for it’s clean upright habit and dense foliage. The medium green foliage reaches 4-6’ tall and can act as a backdrop, accent, or screening plant. Around the middle of summer the flower panicles appear and dance above the foliage creating an attractive pink-tinged shimmer. We recommend leaving the grasses up for the winter months to add winter interest to the garden. The seed heads also provide a food source for the local bird population. Northwind Switchgrass is tolerant of a variety of soil conditions and is drought and salt tolerant making it a good option in urban settings.
