Cultural RequirementsGolden Raindrops is a highly disease resistant species of Crabapple. Tolerant of a variety of soils, it makes a great street tree. However, it does prefer full sunlight and average to moist wel-drained conditions. It shouldn’t be allowed to dry out. Golden Raindrops is a relatively low maintenance tree, but if there is going to be pruning preformed, it is best to do so in late winter, once all extreme cold has passed.

Ornamental Features

This is yet another all-star for the landscape all season long. Golden Raindrops is a fine-textured elegant crabapple with an upright form. This tree is overflowing with clusters of small white flowers mid-spring, has highly attractive deeply cut foliage in the summer and an outstanding abundance of yellow fruit into late fall. The yellow fruit makes it a particularly unique accent in the landscape and is attractive to a variety of birds.

Landscape Uses

Golden Raindrops Crabapple makes a great lawn and street tree and with its mature height of only 20’, it lends itself to be a fine choice for planting below power lines. Because of its tolerance to different soil conditions, it also works well in city conditions. At maturity, it can serve as a nice shade tree, and with of all its interesting features, it makes for a beautiful accent anywhere in the landscape.
