Saltbox-style homes are rare and historic. It's hard not to honor them with a beautiful landscape that pays tribute to the architecture. Throw a dog into the picture along with everyday activities from the twenty-first century and this can present a challenge.
LawnCare by Walter decided to divide the 35 x 15 foot space into two areas: one for the home's occupants—including man's best friend—and the other for a flourishing garden, which was cleanly defined by Fond du Lac cut wall stone, a dense limestone often found in Wisconsin quarries.
The wall stone was built eight inches above the ground and formed a symmetrical line along a perimeter marked by a fence. A unique birch tree with triplet trunks was taken into consideration when installing the wall. The garden side now lays claim to the tree and the other side consists of matching flagstones that make a great walking path.
To finish the look, LawnCare by Walter added a thick layer of mulch.
